Welcome to the Course

What’s well begun is half done

Hi Guys!

Let me start off by congratulating you on having taken this decision to start learning how to play the guitar. I know a lot of people who have always had this dream of playing this incredible instrument but could never muster the courage or take this first step to make that dream come true.

But you are different! Which is why you are reading this.

Let me start off by sharing some information about myself. I started learning how to play the guitar back in June 2000 and witnessed what they call a true 180 degree change in my life. This decision (which was incidentally made a lot easier, thanks to the encouragement by my mom) was probably one thing that I will always be thankful for, for the rest of my life.

And my job is to ensure that you feel the same way now, to also witness that 180 degree change, and also end up being the life of every party that you go to 🙂

I would not be joking when I say that the Guitar has the maximum number of people signing up as students AND also the maximum number of students dropping out in a few weeks. Call it the pain when your fingers come in contact with the strings or the fatigue that sets in when you do those awful stretches. But the truth is that these things can be avoided (not fully but partially) and that is something which I has mastered over the past 20 years.

What makes THIS COURSE different from the other courses?

1) This course is for absolute beginners which know nothing about the guitar. I will not be making any assumptions and will take you through every single topic that is important for you to know

2) This course will follow, what I believe, is the absolutely right structure for a beginner to take from beginner stage. If you were to check any of the other courses online or even in music schools, they will follow the common pattern of doing an intro about the guitar and then moving on to chords (it’s ok if you don’t understand what I mean by chords, we will get there) . Which I believe is completely incorrect. Hence, be ready to delve into the fantastic world of exercises to ensure that you feel a lot lesser pain by the time you learn to play chords. Will also ensure the drop out rates are lesser 🙂

3) Other courses focus more on teaching some popular chords so that you can play songs. But I believe that playing songs is just one of the end results of learning. There is a lot more that you need to learn to call yourself a complete guitarist and that is what my course will focus on. As they say, ‘give a man a fish and feed him for a day, teach him how to fish and feed him for a lifetime’

What is the structure of the Beginner Guitar Course?

I have divided the full course into 2 stages.

Stage 1 – is where we will learn all the basics, lots of finger exercises, all the major and minor chords and also this fantastic 14 lesson set on strumming (which ensure that you never have any problems with rhythm). This stage will have around 67 lessons in total (a lot of things to be done in 30 days) and we will be touching upon the WHAT of guitar playing

Stage 2 – is where we will focus on not just some more cool stuff to add more flavour to our playing (like newer chords, introduction to music genres like rock, blues, jazz) but also on the WHYs which would be a lot of music theory. I am yet to make the structure for this particular course but will keep you guys updated on this

If you have seen my other guitar lesson videos, you would have probably known that I emphasise on teaching the right things from the start and not shortcuts. And this course continues with the same philosophy, yet is compact enough for you to start rocking with the guitar in the correct way in just 30 days.

Wanted to let you know that it took me a long time to devise the structure for this course and to record the videos and edit them (I am yet to record and edit many of the videos in this series). My earlier plan was to make this a paid course but later on I decided to put it on an honour system. Where my belief is that if you like the content that I have been putting up so far, then you will help donate whatever amount makes sense to you, to help this channel grow. More details on that in this page.

Do check out this video to get more details on how this course is going to be different from the other courses available online.

Hope you are as excited as I am.

Please share the playlist link with all your friends and family so that they may realise their long lost dream of playing this fabulous instrument – the Guitar in just 30 days.

Take care and see you in the shed!

Addy

P.S. Although the course name is “Learn the guitar in 30 days”, I do understand that not everybody has the same amount of practice time to put daily. Which is why feel free to take more time than the 30 days without any kind of guilt. What is more important is to fully master the previous lesson before moving on to the next.
